I wanted to compile some information on other horse shows or circuits in our area. This would include open shows, breed shows, futurities, etc. Since we do not have shows every weekend during the summer, this would be a great resource. Let me hear from you guys…..what other shows do you go to or know about??

The NEMQHA has shows this year aqha, Cutting and reined cowhorse as well as several clinics we will continue with the cuttings and clinics through out the year into next year.

On May 10th at 9 a.m., Sandy Lee and Julie Korkow will be holding a clinic that will hopefully be beneficial to those of you wanting to show yearlings and older horses in the EMHSC circuit this year. The morning will be primarily for young horses with instruction on longe line rules, starting your horse on the longe line, feeding and conditioning of yearlings, and grooming and trimming. We will also be getting into teaching yearlings some maneuvers for trail competition. Lunch will be available. After lunch, Laura Lake will provide a seminar on showmanship. Leanne Hoaglund will also be doing a segment called “From the Judge’s Perspective”. The clinic is free although donations are welcome to cover the cost of lunch. For more information, please contact Sandy Lee at 232-3770 or Julie Korkow at 554-3123. This will be an excellent experience for young horses and will serve as a great refresher for the upcoming show season.
Comment by pynbluff April 29, 2008 @ 4:41 amThere is a nice barrel race in Bowman N.D. april 26th. Added $$$ with nice faciltiy. There is also a barrel race in Glendive on the 19th and the 27th of april.. e amil me for any needed info.

Comment by Deb Ryan September 12, 2007 @ 3:12 amThe NWSCA show circuit will sponsor two open shows in Williston ND, at the fairgrounds, on August 11th and 12th. These shows are open to everyone, classes for all age groups, snaffle bit classes, everything from Halter, to Trail & Pleasure classes and Western Riding, Reining, and games (Barrels, Poles, Flag Race, etc.). If you would like more information you can email me at dawnamyt@yahoo.com. The NWSCA is down to only 8 shows this summer so some of us have been looking for other showing opportunities. That’s how I ended up on your website! Depending on how the dates work, you may see us at Glendive and/or Wibaux next year. Also, in our search for other shows we found that the NEMQHA sponsors a series of open shows in Plentywood (June 23 & 24), Glasgow (July 21 & 22) and Culbertson (Aug 18 & 19) MT. I have contact info for those shows if you would like too.
Comment by Donna Mahlum July 8, 2007 @ 5:24 pmNWSCA runs an open show circuit in ND. Stanley, Ambrose, Minot, and Williston. Minot is August 4-5th and Williston in August 11-12th.

Comment by Deb Brown April 3, 2007 @ 7:26 pmThe 2007 Black Hills Open Horse Shows are May 26, July 28, & August 25 at Black Hills Roundup Grounds in Belle Fourche, SD. There are halter, longeline, western, english, hunter, trail & reining classes (56 Classes).
