He missed qualifying for the open division finals by about 5 horses. Intermediate and Open are determined by earnings won by the rider. Justin Lawrence is riding Talkin. In the prelims, his reining run was mediocre but he came back to score a 219 on the fence work -- placing him 2nd in the intermediate and tied for 4-5th in the Open. The National Reined Cow Horse Association’s premiere triathlon event – the Snaffle Bit Futurity – consists of reining, cutting and fence work (chasing cow down fence then turning them at certain places in specified directions). This is a pretty big deal so very, very exciting for her. This is in Reno. She will be there another week probably. She has been checking email if you want to send her a note: nphorses@sdplains.com.
